Recently, Lowlit Collective's signature Taisan Bench was recognized by the global design community when it was shortlisted in the Furniture category at the Dezeen Awards 2022, a prestigious design award in the UK.
The Dezeen Awards are renowned for uncovering creative and innovative design from around the world, with thousands of entries each year. For the 2022 Dezeen Awards, only 28 of the best designs from around the world made the longlist in the furniture category. The Taisan bench was selected as one of them, reflecting Lowlit Collective's unique design philosophy and commitment to sustainability, and was an important step in bringing Korean design to the international stage.
The Taisan bench combines Korean aesthetics with the philosophy of upcycling, transforming what was once considered waste plastic into something of artistic value. The bench is meant to "give new purpose to things that would otherwise be thrown away," which is in line with Lowlit Collective's core philosophy of Repurposing.
"The Taisan bench's inclusion in the Dezeen Awards Longlist is an international recognition of our sustainable design philosophy," said Jae Sik Choi, CEO of Lowlit Collective. "This achievement is a great motivation for us to continue to inspire more people through sustainable design and to solidify Lowlit Collective's position in the global market."
This longlisting at the Dezeen Awards 2022 is an important step in establishing Lowlit Collective as a force to be reckoned with in the international design industry. We look forward to seeing what the Lowlit Collective will continue to achieve on the global stage with its sustainable design.
